Haven't been to the doctor recently?

 

A person age 20-50, in generally good health, who feels well and has no significant family history of medical problems, should routinely visit their family physician every other year and at age 50 and up, yearly visits.

 

This visit should include:

  • History

  • Blood pressure check

  • Height and weight

  • Cholesterol check every five years

  • Blood glucose check with each health maintenance exam

  • Colonoscopy at age 50 and then every 5-10 years

 

Women

  • Pelvic exams with Pap smear initially yearly then as directed by your doctor

  • Breast exams yearly at age 40 and up

  • Mammograms every other year at age 40-50 and year age 50 and up

 

Men

  • Prostate exams as determined by your doctor

 

*Other studies as determine by your doctor and based on your history.
